The Writers of Kern have published three Anthologies. The new Anthology
III is now out and available at the monthly meetings and at Russos
Marketplace for $12.00. This gives our members a chance to see their
work in print and it gives them a clip to add to their resume.
All members are invited to submit their work and then at least
three members check and edit the material. There is a word limit
and we insist that there be no obscene passages in the stories.
We had 26 member’s stories or poems published in Anthology
I and 32 members had things published in Anthology II. Members are
invited to submit no more than three submissions. The committee
forming the anthology panel has the right to reject any submission.
Jim Imel formatted the first Anthology 2001 and Terry Redman did
the final work on Anthology II in 2003. The editor for the 2007
Anthology will be Lucinda Soria.
WOK members have also performed readings at the Bakersfield Arts
Museum and have read their stories on Public Radio, KVPR. Some of
the children’s authors have participated in the Kern Co. Museum’s
reading promotions.
California Writers Week is in October and each year special events
are planned.
Writers of Kern have also participated in the huge annual Book
Fair in Los Angeles in prior years.
